NematX AG is a Swiss startup specialized in additive manufacturing with the ambition to introduce the next generation in high-performance polymer 3D printing for industrial use.

With their material-centered approach, they are pioneering the use of liquid crystal polymers to additively manufacture high-performance end-use products for harsh application environments.
What is the Space Tech behind it?
NematX has demonstrated basic space compatibility of their 3D printed objects and they therefore target applications in Aerospace and Space markets. Their manufactured products are lightweight and strong, show minimal outgassing and high resistance to thermal cycling degradation. Applications in this vertical could be satellite system mountings, lowly-loaded brackets, aircraft interior parts or sandwich panel inserts.

NematX targets industrial markets with a demand for high-performance polymer products which can be exposed to extreme conditions. Target industries of NematX include Space, Aerospace, Medical and specific Industrial Applications.
How is NematX supporting the UN SDGs?
Their Nematic 3D Printing technology facilitates the production of end-use parts for the most demanding application environments (SDG 9). In comparison to conventional manufacturing technologies, no tooling, molds or heavy machinery is required to produce complex-shaped parts with minimal material usage. In addition, NematX’s technology offers full recyclability of obsolete 3D printed parts to support both, responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) and a manufacturing technology with a low carbon footprint (SDG 13). Further benefits of Nematic 3D Printing include drastically reduced emissions (and costs) from packaging, logistics and transportation due to on-site, on-demand production. NematX also plans to serve medical markets with affordable and readily available personalized medical devices and thus contribute to general public health. Surgeons and medical professionals shall be provided with highly accurate and lightweight guides, fixations, or orthopaedic implants to improve patient care and facilitate faster physical recovery after traumatic injuries (SDG 3).
