Affordable thermal imagery and data analytics to complete the picture

What is the mission of Hydrosat?
Hydrosat turns Earth data into intelligence and insight for agriculture, financial services, and government.

What does Hydrosat offer?
Hydrosat is a data analytics company that uses space imagery to expand agricultural knowledge, helping farmers to increase their harvest yield while conserving critical water resources. The company’s products will make farms more productive, enable companies in the agricultural and related industries to operate more efficiently, and improve Earth’s environment. In addition, Hydrosat is conducting research on wildfire damage forecast, as well as drought detection and monitoring.

What is the Space Tech behind it?
Hydrosat uses space-borne data from several existing remote sensing payloads, offering a wide range of spectral bands and resolutions. A key element that sets Hydrosat’s offering apart is that the team is developing its own high-resolution thermal infrared sensor and will start the deployment of its own satellite constellation by end of 2021. The use of affordable high-resolution thermal infrared data will help Hydrosat to further develop its business applications., such as yield forecasting, irrigation management, as well as wildfire and drought detection and monitoring.

What are the applications?
Hydrosat’s analytical products provide actionable intelligence to agriculture and related industries. This includes the optimization of irrigation management for farmers and the provision of precise information on projected crop yields to financiers, insurance companies, and food packagers on a global level. Further applications will include, among others, prediction, detection and monitoring of catastrophic events such as wildfires and droughts.

How is Hydrosat supporting the UN SDGs?
Hydrosat’s team in Luxembourg is focused on developing several products with significant commercial potential and offering substantial environmental benefits to solve the world’s food challenges. Hydrosat’s products are well-aligned with several UN Sustainable Development Goals by supporting yield forecasting, irrigation management and drought monitoring through data insights into water content, ultimately optimizing the use of this increasingly scarce, vital resource.
